Players that have made the Mot of their Talent and Wasted it
It was said on another thread about Beckham making the most of his talent.

I think Lampard junior, love him or hate him, is also up there. I see him play as a kid form the age of 7 and he was good but not even the best player on the pitch each week.

Wasted it.

Has to be Morrison. Such a shame that he couldn't keep his head together.

What other players spring to mind that have made it through sheer hard work and determination?

Wasted Talent - Alan Dickens

Sir Trev was coming to the end of his career and this kid looked the bollox when he first started, an ideal replacement of a club legend, sadly drifted away big time

In our current squad
Most : Mark Noble
Waste : Andy Carroll

Matthew Rush was always one I thought had the talent to do more but just never seemed that bothered.

Did they use his moniker, DB7?

Their are players who fail to fulfill their potential, of whom Morrison is an obvious recent case, and there are players who reach their peak and then fall away badly without really seeing out their career. George Best is an example of that.

Freddy Adu, for the Americans who thought they had the next Pele.

For us has to be Savio!

The Neville brothers.

Neither of whom are particularly talented for pro footballers. They just made it their business to work harder and be fitter than everyone else.

They both maximised their talent pretty bloody well.

Kevin Keegan made the most of what talent he had.

I think Ronaldinho could have been the best player ever. Probably the most skillful player ever, but never did as much as the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. Most likely due to his party life.

Similar story with Gascogne.

Pottsy made the most of his talent.

Ravel wasted his.

Ashton’s talent was wasted.

McAvennie was wasted, quite often.
